Tour program
-
Hotel pickupOur journey begins with pickup from your hotel. Please wait on the main street outside your hotel, or by the security post at the entrance if the hotel grounds are large. Pickup times vary from hotel to hotel. Your time is set by the tour organiser and shown in the voucher on your phone. Due to traffic and other guests running late, the transfer may be delayed by up to 15 minutes.
-
Breakfast at a restaurantAn hour after leaving Antalya, we will stop at a roadside café where you can order breakfast and hot drinks. It's a good idea to let reception know about your excursion in advance and pick up a breakfast lunch box from your hotel in the morning.
-
Textile shop or souvenir shopAs we approach Pamukkale, we will stop at a souvenir shop or textile store where you can buy the products the Denizli region is famous for. The stop lasts about 45 minutes.
-
Wine tastingThe city of Denizli is well known for its fruit wines. At this stop there will be a short tasting of cherry and blackberry wines, which you can also buy.
-
FacilitiesWhen we arrive at the coach park, the guides will hand out entrance tickets to those who have them included in the price, or show you where to buy them. If you did not include the entrance ticket when booking, please bring Turkish lira with you, based on the Central Bank of Turkey exchange rate on the day of payment. Each group has 3 hours in Pamukkale, counted from the moment the coach enters the car park. The guides will show you the way to the white terraces, the theatre, the main sights of ancient Hierapolis and Cleopatra's Pool, and advise you on how best to plan your free time. Near Cleopatra's Pool you will find all the facilities you need for a comfortable visit: changing cabins, fresh-water showers, toilets and a cafeteria. Entry to the pool area is free, and tickets for swimming in the thermal pool itself can be bought either from the guide or at the reception at the entrance to the pool area.
-
Pamukkale terracesThe entrance to the path down along the white terraces is 300 metres from the pool. The walk takes about an hour and is done on your own. Remember that you can only walk on the Pamukkale terraces barefoot. Along the way down there are several artificial pools filled with 30-40 centimetres of thermal water, where you can lie back and soak.
-
Ancient HierapolisThe ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis are well worth seeing. Its main part (the central street and the necropolis) lies in the north, 1.5 km from Cleopatra's Pool. On day trips, guides recommend visiting the ancient theatre and the Basilica of St. Philip, which are closer. If these sights interest you, allow 30-40 minutes for the walk to the theatre.
-
Cleopatra's PoolAllow 30-40 minutes to visit the ancient pool. You should not stay in the thermal pools for longer than 15-20 minutes. Please note that they are not suitable for people with high blood pressure or cardiovascular conditions.
-
Departure from PamukkaleYou must return to the coach park at the time given by your guide. Please do not be late, as drivers, guides and agencies face heavy fines if the coach does not leave the car park on time. Guides are unable to wait for guests or search for them across the vast Pamukkale site.
-
Stops on the way backOn the way back you will cover 240 km to Antalya, with one or two 15-minute rest stops at petrol stations. There you will find a cafeteria, a shop and toilets.
-
Return to the hotelOn arrival in Antalya, the coach will drop guests off at their hotels. Please note that your return time depends heavily on your hotel's location and traffic on the road. Guests may be dropped off at an accessible spot close to the hotel.
